Day 28 (April 30) Portloe to Pentewan

The skies were heavy when we left behind the comforts of home and drove to Portloe; however the weather was reasonable until I reached Caerhays (the gardens were closed due to the weather). Then it started to rain in earnest and the wind increased to gale force. By the time I reached Gorran Haven it was past a joke. I spent a while at Portmellon taking many photos of the sea breaking over the coast road, and the harbour at Mevagissey was full of boats sheltering from the storm.
What about the footie yesterday - Chelsea 6 QPR 1 - come on you blues! Blackburn look doomed. According to The Mail (and they are never wrong) Roy Hodgson is going to be the new England manager - the hierarchy are not even going to interview 'Arry Boy'!
Dave & Jason - how did you get on with your walk today?

Big fire in Falmouth - roads closed - Lyn lucky to get away. She had nothing to do with it, so she told me!

  1. Great photos of portmellon and mevagissey, we like your snaps well done . very sad about the horrendous fire at The Falmouth Beach Hotel, just when they are getting ready for the summer season, bit like the Pandora?? we saw some coverage on Spotlight this evening hopefuly, no-one was harmed. anyway keep on walking, best wishes Jen & other Pete, love to Lyn.

  2. I hear that some of the displaced guests of the Falmouth Beach Hotel have now found some satisfactory accomodation just up the road - apparently there is a house in Castle Drive that is hardly ever used so it seemed a pity to let it go to waste .......
If the sea was anything like it was at sunny (yes !) Teignmouth & Dawlish at lunchtime today then it must have been impressive, it was breaking over the trains & indeed even the terrace at the East Cliff Cafe didn't escape - horror or horrors !! However I was still able to down a bacon butty to keep the wolf from the door !

  4. All i hear you bleat about is the wind...........surely at some times its got to be behind you..........and no, I'm talking about your arse. Read the article in the West Briton and one thing struck me, you're not getting any better looking as you're getting older.

Sorry about the banter, can't let an opportunity pass to have a go at my favourite uncle. Lets hope the weather breaks for a few days and you can enjoy rather than endure your walk.

All the best, you're doing well, but keep feeding me the ammo for my daily mickey take, you never know, one day I might even write something complimentary.

P.S. on the topic of the hotel fire........I didn't know you had scousers down in Falmouth as well!!
